OpenIoT Summer School

Running from 4–8 August, the OpenIoT summer school is an event organized by the OpenIoT consortium following the EU IERC-Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (2014 IERC IoT-SRIA) agenda with focus on satisfying the demands for Service Openness and Semantic Interoperability for the Internet of Things. The VITAL consortium is participating in the summer school and Gregor Schiele (VITAL project manager, NUIG) will present the VITAL vision and our current state.

Vital Cities Workshop

This meeting brings together the city partners from London and Istanbul (with technical partners) to review the VITAL project use cases. The aim is to explore synergies between the two demonstration areas, formulating use cases that meet the objectives of the project and deliver greatest benefit from the collaboration. The workshop will be hosted over two days by Istanbul Technical University.

Smarter London Exhibition

‘Smarter London’ explores how data, technology and analytics are changing the way we design, build and manage the city. This NLA exhibition uncovers a host of exciting smart projects taking place in London and examines the role of data in the development of a single building to large-scale city-wide infrastructure projects such as Crossrail, as well as the new role that gaming plays in community consultation projects. Visitors can explore a virtual London from an entirely new perspective using the Pigeon Sim – where the use of gestures allow you to swoop and soar high over the city.

IoT Week Lisbon 2015

Portugal is well positioned in respect to the Internet-of-Things. Notably, the global Vodafone M2M middleware platform is being developed in Portugal (Lisbon) and also the Bosch M2M&IoT solutions are developed in Portugal (Aveiro). The major Portuguese telecoms like Portugal Telecom and ZON Optimus are now strongly pushing their M2M&IoT business areas. Many champion SMEs are developing solutions and making business in IoT. And also, key cities like Porto and Lisbon are building their smart-city strategies based on IoT technologies and data.
