From 23–25 April 2015, VITAL was showcased at SIdO, the Salon de l’Internet des Objects, in Lyon, France, a major event for IoT professionals, where an impressive list of companies and research consortia presented products, services and ideas from across the whole landscape of internet-connected objects. The VITAL booth presented the live demo of the Istanbul traffic management use case, where numerous sensors across the city can be monitored to detect potential traffic problems in the areas where sensors are deployed. The sensors are connected into the VITAL platform to make such value-added services possible.

Numerous visitors were able to observe how future smart city technologies can be integrated with legacy city infrastructures and deployments to deliver better services.

A live demo of the HI REPLY gateway was also on show, to illustrate the effectiveness and potential of VITAL’s interoperability. This demo pulls data from a “smart sock” and allows real-time information to be collected from smart citizens to support activity planning and monitoring. We shared our booth with two highly complementary EU-funded IoT projects, Open-IoT and FIESTA.
